Chalmers Annual Ceremony – A New Tradition

The 5th of November, 1829, is forever etched in Gothenburg’s history. On this day, the Chalmers School of Crafts began its operations with an inauguration ceremony at the Freemasons’ Hall by the harbour canal, just a stone’s throw from both the Chalmers House and the East India Company’s buildings, and very close to the school’s first premises at Lilla Bommen.

F Computer simulations point the way towards better solar cells

More stable and efficient materials for solar cells are needed in the green transition. So-called halide perovskites are highlighted as a promising alternative to today’s silicon materials. Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology, in Sweden, using computer simulations and machine learning, have gained new insights into how perovskite materials function, which is an important step forward.

MC2 Faster space communication with record-sensitive receiver

In space exploration, long-distance optical links can now be used to transmit images, films and data from space probes to Earth using light. But in order for the signals to reach all the way and not be disturbed along the way, hypersensitive receivers and noise-free amplifiers are required. Now, researchers at Chalmers University of Technology, in Sweden, have created a system that, with a silent amplifier and record-sensitive receiver, paves the way for faster and improved space communication.&nbsp;
